Robinson Township Fire Department is seeking a Fire Chief to begin duties on July 1, 2024. We are a Northern Fire Protection Department partly funded by the Ontario Fire Marshal, supervised by the OFM and supported by the Robinson Local Services Board. The community is looking for a strategic leader to take the fire department through certification to meet the coming 2026 standards. Duties will include, but not necessarily limited to, supervision of 12 or more volunteer fire fighters, supervision of a training officer, supervision of the care and maintenance of all apparatus, fire hall, grounds, power equipment and all PPE. Also the fire chief will be expected to present yearly a budget to the LSB. Currently the position involves some 400 hours a year and would be considered part time. For more details contact Paul Sorbara, Chair, Local Services Board of Robinson Township at psorbara@outlook.com Please include references from the fire service. Interviews will be conducted by a representative of the OFM, The LSB and the Robinson Fire Department officers. Stipend to be negotiated.
No open fires are permitted during daytime hours from April 1 to October 31 (please refer to the Ontario Fire Prevention Act for details). When there is no fire ban in place, open fires are permitted overnight as wind normally drops and humidity increases. You must be prepared to supervise any fire you have, and have the means to keep it under control.
